Healthy, Fit, & Fabulous: A Guide to Looking and Feeling Your Best

There are so many incredible aspects of the fashion world, from cultural influences, classic looks, chic new trends, and endless possibilities of artistic self-expression. However, fashion is not only about the clothes, but also about the healthy, wonderful, unique person beneath them. After all, people bring the clothes to life, and a healthy body is a highly important characteristic for happiness and overall well-being. Throughout recent years as I grew more aware of the importance of health and well-being, I discovered a few helpful tips that I make an effort to incorporate into my daily schedule. Now I’m going to share them with you.
                              1.  The 30 Minute Rule

One of the constant struggles many people face in college is the overall lack of time. From going to class, tackling piles of assignments, and participating in campus organizations, sometimes it just seems like there isn’t enough time in the day to go to the gym and fit in an hour long workout. Therefore, I’ve figured out something I like to call the 30 minute rule. This just simply means that I set aside 30 minutes a day for a workout. You can do this anywhere and anytime, whether you’re at the gym, or simply in your dorm room! In contrast to what some may lead you to believe, an active lifestyle does not require a gym.
                                 2.  No Gym Required

Yes it’s true! Contrary to what some may believe, you do not have to go to a gym to live a healthy lifestyle. There are so many other ways to fit in a 30 minute workout. One of my favorite ways is through exercise videos. If you don’t own any videos, no worries! Youtube has hundreds of workout videos that you can follow along with, as well as any type of workout you may be interested in. I’ve found some great workout videos ranging from yoga, Pilates, cardio, barre, abs, legs, upper body, and full body strengthening. You name it, it’s there. If you don’t find workout videos that you like right away, don’t stress! There are so many different workout channels, that with a little time and research, you’re bound to find something that you enjoy. A few of my favorite workout channels include:
*      RL Healthy, XHIT, Blogilates, POPSUGAR Fitness, BeFiT, & FitnessBlender
Whether it’s taking a walk or a jog, going to the gym, or following a workout video at home, it all comes down to finding a fitness routine that works for you.
3.  Moderation is Key

Please remember that working out does not have to be a chore! It’s all about moderation and living a balanced lifestyle. I typically make an effort to workout 30 minutes a day, about 4-5 days a week. Although it’s important to eat healthy for a majority of the week, I allow myself one fun eating day when I’ll treat myself to the Starbucks Frappuccino I’ve been craving, or the slice of pizza that I just can’t resist. One fun eating day a week will allow you to indulge, while staying on track for the remaining 6 days of the week and eating tons of fruits and veggies. Drinking lots of water, and resting your body at night will also boost your energy level and help you feel unstoppable. Give it a try and see what you think.
                           4. Embrace Yourself

The main goal is to be healthy. Health is a gift, and with it, anything is possible! Self-improvement is a great thing, but it’s also important to remember that your differences make you fabulous, and there will never be another person quite like you. Don’t forget to start the day with a smile, put on your favorite outfit, and conquer the world!
                             You’re worth it!
                                          Sincerely,
                                    Michelle

The most highly anticipated time of the year for me is when H&M releases who they will be teaming up with to collaborate with a collection. Last year H&M collaborated with design Alexander Wang called Alexander Wang X H&M. The collection sold out within minutes! This year H&M is teaming up with fashion house BALMAIN to create an affordable high end collection. This is the perfect opportunity for us to get our hands on some of Olivier Rousteing's work or to feel like a Kardashian. The collection is set to release Nov. 5. The prices range anywhere between 30-600 dollars. #H&MBALMAINATION Here are a few of our favorites.

Only a few shows this year have been highly anticipated, one being Riccardo Tisic as he approached his 10th year at Givenchy. Lets not forget to mention the collaboration with Marina Abramovic for this collection. The show began with Mariacarla Boscono one of Tisic's Muses wearing a camisole top and loose trousers. As the collection begins to unfold, you see Tisic's concept on femininity vs. Masculinity. The hard against the soft. The shows main theme was tuxedo dressing and lingerie. The silhouettes were endorsed in white laces and silks, paired with fluid blacks. A nice twist to the show was to see men also walking out in intoxicating suits. Although all of Tisic's look's were powerful, they felt quite mute. You could see the powerful silhouette, you could see the exquisite structure and boldness of the ensemble, yet you could feel only quietness while looking through his collection. There is an underlying beauty within this collection as Tisic plays on the line of hard and soft. This collection is a true avant-garde work of art masking its inner tenderness. Tisic's wanted you to see one thing, and feel another, Which has always been the magic of Givenchy.
